Sten Larsen
Founder and Chairman

After 12 years at sea working predominantly on tankers Sten Larsen rose to become a Master Mariner before heading ashore where he was a superintendent for a number of years with leading Norwegian and Singapore shipmanagers. In 2012, Sten was approached to work for Trinity Investments, a London-based private equity firm with a growing interest in chemical tankers. Realising a hole in the market for a dedicated tanker manager with strong tech origins Sten and Trinity created FSM in April 2016.

Stephen Smith
CEO

Stephen Smith started out with the US Navy where he worked through to the age of 29, becoming one of the youngest Chief Engineers in the Pacific fleet. Just before he turned 30 he decided to enroll in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he studied marine engineering. Stephen then went to work for a well-known Greek shipowner in New York for a decade before turning his attention to his growing professional passion – shipping digitalisation. He now runs FSM’s Sharjah base.

Faye Knüsse
Chief Operating Officer

Faye Knüsse hails from Norway and a family steeped in shipping tradition. Both her father and grandfather were Master Mariners. Faye, however, decided to pursue more of a tech career. After graduating from the University of Bergen, Faye continued her studies in America at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has spent her career working at apps to make tanker shipping more transparent. She led the development of FSM’s groundbreaking CommuniPod invention and serves as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.
