FSM fleet hits 50 ships

April 4, 2018

Today sees the 13,000 dwt Persephone chemical tanker join the books of FSM Ship Management, marking a significant milestone for the shipmanager as it celebrates its second birthday.

Founded in April 2016 with the backing of private equity company Trinity Invest, FSM Ship Management now has 50 tankers under full technical management, making it one of the fastest growing shipmanagers in the world.

The Persephone was delivered from Japanese yard Shin Kurushima to compatriot owner Niobe Navigation today and is now en route to Singapore with a team of FSM crew who hail from the Philippines.

Commenting on the occasion, Sten Larsen, FSM’s founder and chairman, said: “We’re honoured to welcome Persephone to our fleet. Niobe has been with us as a loyal customer from almost day one. To get to 50 ships in such a short space of time reflects both the hard work and unique offering of the FSM team.

"Shipmanagement is going through a massive period of change at the moment and we are pleased to be at the vanguard of the digitalisation of the sector. FSM customers have access to the most cutting edge digital tools giving them far greater access, control and input into the running of their ships than has previously been possible from the shipmanagement community.

"Going forward, with the backing of our original investors we will look at some acquisitions to bolster our position in what is still a fragmented market.”
